This year, the Cultural Conference is excited to host a pre-conference fundraiser, partnering with the Guild Cinema and the UNM Chicano Studies Department.
“Cultura for the Rest of Us” takes place Thursday, September 20, 4-6pm at the Guild Cinema, 3405 Central Avenue, NE. $7.
Join us for a celebration of multicultural literature and education. The evening will feature a showing of digital cuentos (stories) from UNM Chicano Studies students and a documentary by Daniel Sonis of Albuquerque poets and writers in the Librotraficante (book smuggling) movement. Richard Vargas will preview his cultural conference panel, “Can Tucson Happen Here?” and Irene Vasquez and Levi Romero from the UNM Chicana and Chicano Studies program will discuss their work toward a Chicano Studies major at UNM.
